the love of the sacred heart of jesus: last words from a catholic priest

Source: Lawrence Mari Lanon's FB post

On this Advent Season, I would like to share with you this post from Arrys Ortañez . It is of Fr. Gaston Hurtubise's final sermon. It took place on June 26, 1992 in Canada. It was the feast of the Sacred Heart and he was preaching on the amazing love of the Sacred Heart. It was at the end of his sermon that the holy priest, collapsed and died.

Below is a very loose translation of Fr. Gaston's final sermon which could be viewed (in French) entirely here : https://youtu.be/c7x0sn6unZU.
Arrys Ortañes tried his best to follow the auto translate option and fill in the gaps. We strongly believe Fr. Hurtubise's parting words on the Sacred Heart is important for us today especially during this Advent season and the end of the year

FR. GASTON HURTUBISE'S FINAL SERMON 6/26/1992
Jesus had a human heart. A heart that knew suffering, a heart that knew joy. A heart that proved feeling like us and a heart that still today, never ceases to challenge us and who tells us, "I have looked for a comforter, but found none. So "come all you who are suffering. You who are failing, and weak and in me you will find rest".
I AM LOVE. And love said to itself, when you love , you will be loved in return. And who better person who knows this but Jesus. It is easy to say "I love you", "I want you". But look at Him (Father pointing to the crucifix), He did not just say "I love you", but showed us, and gave us the very definition of love... He says to you, "Look at my heart...there is no reason to wonder and doubt if I really love you... do you suspect it? How many times have you prayed and very often have you doubted my love for you..."
It is easy to talk about love...all the time, our society is saying it...we think we give love more than anyone else, but it is Jesus who gave it perfectly, because He alone was able to give it to each one of us... And what a gift it is. Not just a gift in a box, but a gift that He continues to give. He continues to give His gift of His life to us in the Holy Eucharist.
And what is our answer today? Our answer is embarrassing. The Lord keeps calling to us and tells us that His heart is in pain. "I need love... I need to be loved..." Jesus is in the tabernacles of our churches and our churches are locked. They deserted more and more. Where are the people to keep watch and pray? Where are the people who frequently approach the Sacrament of Penance, the sacrament of love? It is important to pise the desire to get closer to Him. It is the lenient hour of love and we still don't understand.
Jesus repeated to us" "Give me your heart, your heart of pain, you heart of misery" and cease to believe that the Sacred Heart does not know your pain.
Jesus does not stop, but is like the prodigal son's father, who stands at the door everyday and watches. He waited for us and when he saw us from a distance he runs to us and let his joy burst. "Come my child", He says, oh how happy He is the joy of your father at your coming. The father does not recite to his son his sins or accuses him of anything. But gives him the fullness of His heart. That my friends, is the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
If we had just the love of Jesus, we wouldn't be afraid to tell Him of our sins, our weaknesses and failures, for He already knows them. All He wants is our love. For he created our hearts for love.
And beware, for the devil is working these days more than ever, seeking to deceive and mislead us. To falsify love. True love is not in pleasure or satisfaction. The true definition of love is there (pointing again to the crucifix).
And so on this feast of the Sacred Heart. Jesus is challenging us once again... Jesus is there and shows us His heart and says "Come to me." Stop believing He is the cause of your sufferings, trials and tribulations. He allows them because He is a God of Love. He came to save us because he loves us so much. In this current world of indifference, a world that is unloving, we know what love is. We look to Him and He says "Look my child, how much I love you and still love you. Oh if only you knew just how much I love you."
(The following are Fr. Gaston's final words as shown in the clip)
As so, call on the Father unceasingly, so He can give you that grace to understand the greatness, the immensity of the love that He has for you. Despite our sins, weaknesses, failings, and maybe a life of misery and sin, despite all that, just one look from us and a gesture of His forgiveness, He is ready to open His Heart to us and establish us in Him... Thank you, Lord!

It was at this moment that the holy priest rested in the Sacred Heart of His Lord and Savior. May we take his words to heart. To look upon Our Lord Jesus' most Sacred Heart. And despite everything, to come to Him and experience the healing love and mercy that He offers to us. Jesus loves us and His Sacred Heart is open to us, wounded and sinful people. Let us rest upon this Heart,
O how great is Thy love for us O Jesus!
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Thy love for me!
